I've check out from the campsite this morning. It might be the only place I can stay in Paris, but still I had to leave. It's too painful to stay here.
I went to a MacDonald nearby with free WIFI nearby, hoped I can find a place to stay. Well, their free WIFI doesn't work. I was here 2 days ago, it works, so it must be their problem. I told them the WIFI doesn't work, they just kept telling me "ne sais pas monsieur"( i don't know, sir). They made no attempt to fix this problem, no one went to check anything, or phone the internet provider. What a nice job they have!! You can completely ignore your customers. I have to find another place to use the internet.
I went to Paris downtown, try to find a place to use internet. First I found another McDonald with free WIFI on Champ-elysse. But this 2-story massive McDoanld got no power point, not even one. Paris is indeed a very "developed" city.
There are several restaurant near Champ-elysse with WIFI, but they are so expensive. Then I found a small cafe with a sign of free WIFI outside. Good, I went in, and the bloke serving me told me the WIFI's broken...
Well, eventually I went to a freaking expensive restaurant, cuase I'm tired of looking for WIFI, and it's 2pm and I havn't eaten anything yet. This meal costed me 14 €. With Louise's help, I found a cheap hostel to stay, just dunno if they got bed for me, and they don't have online booking system... Paris is really a very convenient city...
Then I went to Louise's friend, Mr. Boom's office. They kindly let me put my bike in the office. I'm really tired of cycling in Paris, I think it's hard to find a place in the world that's more dangerous to ride a bicyle. They also helped me ask the hostel if they still got a bed. Fortunately they do. Seems I don't have to sleep in the airport. Mr. Boom also gave me a Swiss army knife and a suitcase on wheels. That's SOOOO nice!!! After my bike is settled down, Mr. Boom treated me to dinner in a very nice Italian restaurant nearby. I had beef lasagna and tiramisu. Both very good!! We've talked a lot. Mr. Boom has been running a travel agent company in Paris for over 30 years. He was also an adventurous backpacker when he was young.
After dinner I went to the hostel, just 2 metro stations away, so I decided to walk. On the way it started to rain, very hard...
Anyway I got to the hostel, though drenched. What a day....
In this hostel, they got only one key for each room, even an 8-bed room. So, you're supposed to put the key at the counter whenever you left your room. If you can't find the key at the counter, that means someone suppose to be in the room to open the door for you.
I was sitting in the lobby for WIFI when my French roommate saw me. He told me that he's gonna get the key and go back to the room. I bidded him goodnight, but he just kept repeating that. Finally I understood. He's asking me to go up to the room with him, so I can bring the key back down, thus when I go back to the room he wouldn't have to wake up to open the door...
I went to bed around 12, and didn't wake him up. Around 3 am, someone knocked on the door. I didn't realise it's my door until they started to bang on the door... I went to open the door. That's our other 2 roommates...
BTW, the French guy's bed is just beside the door, mine is at the other end of the room.
